Yellow police tape lined the 1700 block of E. Lake St. early Thursday, March, 25, 2021, after a man was fatally shot outside the gas station.

A man believed to be in his 40s was shot and killed just before midnight Wednesday, March 24, on the 1700 block of E. Lake St., Minneapolis police said. Officers found the man with a gunshot wound to the head outside the gas station and found no pulse or respirations.

Initial investigation shows an altercation began between two or more people, when one of them pulled a gun and shot the other before the suspect fled the scene. No arrests have been announced. The fatal shooting is being investigated as a homicide and the medical examiner will identify the victim in the coming days.
