Man in Custody After Woman Fatally Struck in Wyoming Gas Station Lot

A 37-year-old Wyoming man faces a charge of criminal vehicular homicide after allegedly hitting a woman in the parking lot of a gas station late Thursday night and fleeing the scene.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the victim, a 51-year-old woman from Saint Paul, died outside the Holiday at 26720 Kettle River Blvd. She has not yet been named, pending family notification.
Officers were dispatched around 10:25 p.m. Thursday, June 22 for the report of a pedestrian struck by a driver who fled the scene after a domestic disturbance. The suspect vehicle was reported to be a white GMC pickup and officers quickly established suspect information. A medical helicopter landed nearby to transport the woman to the hospital, but it was canceled after she died of her injuries at the scene.

A wide search for the pickup ensued overnight, including multiple agencies and over several locations, but it was unsuccessful as morning broke. Before 10 a.m., Wyoming PD received a call from the male suspect, who asked to meet with officers at his residence. They made contact with the male and took him into custody without incident, authorities said, and the pickup was found nearby. No other suspects were sought.
According to jail booking records, Mark Andrew Wiosky, 37, was being held without bail on criminal vehicular homicide.
Witnesses on the scene reported Wiosky and the victim had been in an altercation prior to the incident. Video retrieved from the gas station’s surveillance system shows that Wiosky flicked a cigarette inside the victim’s vehicle while she was seated in the driver’s seat. The video shows that Wiosky reached into the victim’s vehicle, grabbed the keys out of the ignition, and walked toward a pickup truck.
The video shows the victim followed him to the truck and tried to reach inside the pickup while Wiosky was in the driver’s seat. Witnesses saw the victim hanging on to the open window of Wiosky’s driver’s side door prior to falling. The surveillance video shows the truck’s rear driver’s side wheel rolled over the victim. Wiosky drove away without stopping to check on the victim or provide aid.
The following day, Wiosky contacted law enforcement and admitted to driving the truck. Wiosky stated that he had used methamphetamine about an hour before the incident and that he and the victim had been in an argument.
State court records show a long string of misdemeanor traffic-related convictions for Wiosky.
