Man Jailed After Woman Found Fatally Injured in Saint Paul

A woman who was found “badly beaten” inside a Saint Paul residence early Sunday morning died of her injuries at the scene and her husband has been jailed on suspicion of murder, police say.

Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Dale St. N. in the city’s North End neighborhood around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to initial dispatch audio, the 911 caller said that he had killed his wife. Officers first inside the residence found a “disturbing scene,” with the 67-year-old female victim with severe injuries from an apparent domestic assault, SPPD said in a media release. She was pronounced dead shortly after.

A man who police believe is the woman’s husband was arrested after being interviewed by police at headquarters. Arvid Harry Johnson, 66, was later booked into the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of murder. A booking photo for Johnson is not yet available.

The woman’s killing is the fifth homicide of 2022.

UPDATE: On Monday afternoon, the victim was identified by the medical examiner as Linda M. Johnson, 66, of Saint Paul.
