Man Turns Self in After Orono Crash Kills 2

Orono police say the 51-year-old man who was behind the wheel of a Bentley when it crashed Saturday night, killing two young men, has turned himself in on charges of criminal vehicular homicide this afternoon.

The driver of the Bentley, identified by police as James Blue, was critically injured. Sam Schuneman and Mack Motzko, the son of Gopher hockey coach Bob Motzko, both died of their injuries.

Authorities are continuing investigation of the crash. Neighbors reported Blue was traveling in excess of 100 mph in a 40 mph zone around a curve on a small hill approaching his home. He reportedly admitted to investigators that he was drinking before the incident.

Blue was booked late this afternoon in the Hennepin County Jail on charges of criminal vehicular homicide, Orono police confirmed. A booking photo for Blue was not immediately available.
