St. Paul police are investigating what is believed to be a murder-suicide after a man and woman were found fatally shot Saturday, March 20, outside a home on the east side.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., police were called to the 1900 block of Montana Ave. E. for the reported shooting and found a man dead outside of a residence, with a woman gravely injured nearby. She was taken to Regions Hospital where she later died.

Police say initial investigation shows the man shot the woman before turning the gun on himself and that a shotgun and handgun were found at the scene. The victim and the suspect have not yet been identified.

Homicide unit investigators are interviewing witnesses and reviewing video to determine what led up to the incident. More information is expected in the days to come.

This is the 8th homicide in St. Paul this year. Police say they had been called several times to the residence on previous domestic-related incidents in the past.
