Oak Grove Man Charged in Shooting of Brother
A 57-year-old Oak Grove man is charged with attempted murder and assault after an alleged alcohol-fueled shooting that left his brother severely injured.
Authorities report that the suspect, who was highly intoxicated, allegedly shot his brother in the abdomen following a heated argument late Saturday afternoon.
Deputies responded to a residence on Dakota Street Northwest in Oak Grove around 4:53 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2024, finding the victim wounded and the suspect outside, where he had unloaded his firearm and was waiting for law enforcement.
The criminal complaint outlined a history of tension between the two brothers, which had escalated when the suspect accused the victim of having an affair with his wife. Witnesses reportedly overheard a confrontation between the men but did not see the shooting itself.
The suspect, identified in court documents as David Douglas Dady, told investigators he felt threatened by the victim, who he claimed was "running up on him." Dady admitted retrieving a Ruger .357 handgun from his bedroom, stating he intended only to scare the victim and that the shot was accidental.
Following his arrest, Dady’s bail was set at $1 million without conditions, or $500,000 with conditions. The conditions imposed would require him to abstain from alcohol and any mood-altering substances, comply with an order preventing contact with the victim and surrender any firearms.
Dady remains in custody, while the victim—who underwent emergency surgery—is said to be in stable condition.
