A 58-year-old Oak Grove man has admitted to shooting his brother during a fight last fall.
According to court records, David Douglas Dady entered a guilty plea for first-degree assault on Monday.
In exchange for the guilty plea, a count of attempted second-degree murder was dismissed.
The charges stemmed from a Nov. 2, 2024, shooting at Dady’s home on Dakota Street Northwest in Oak Grove. Authorities say deputies were called around 4:53 p.m. after reports that Dady shot his brother in the abdomen.
Investigators later learned the two had been arguing when Dady, who was intoxicated, retrieved a Ruger .357 handgun from his bedroom and fired. Dady reportedly made statements after the shooting claiming he believed his brother was having an affair with his wife and that he felt threatened when confronted.

Detectives recovered the firearm, a casing and a bullet at the scene. Witnesses told investigators they heard the brothers arguing followed by a gunshot but did not see the shooting. In a post-Miranda interview, Dady said he intended to scare his brother but admitted to pulling the trigger. He described going outside afterward, unloading the gun, and waiting for deputies to arrive.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and was later stabilized. He was unable to give a detailed statement at the time because of his condition.
First-degree assault carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for December. Authorities have not yet released further details on what sentence prosecutors will seek.
