Both men were transported to Regions Hospital, where the 73-year-old man later died. The 59-year-old man is still hospitalized but expected to survive his injuries.
SPPD says preliminary investigation shows the 73-year-old man approached the home on foot and knocked on the door. When the residents answered the door, an altercation took place and the two males were both injured. The 73-year-old male was detained until officers could arrive and the circumstances of the altercation are still under investigation.
This is the 20th homicide of the year in Saint Paul. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner identified the deceased adult male as Robin Sherwood Lambert, 73, of Bloomington, Minn.
