Saint Paul Police Investigating Fatal Shooting Monday Night

Saint Paul police detectives are investigating after a man was shot just before 10 p.m. on Monday on the 900 block of Rice St. The man was transported to Regions Hospital and died several hours later.

According to dispatch audio, the man had been shot in the chest and was in critical condition.

Dispatch audio described a possible suspect as a black male in his fifties, approximately 6’ tall and wearing all black clothing.

The suspect was believed to have fled on foot after the shooting. Police attempted to locate the suspect with assistance from a canine and the State Patrol, but those efforts were unsuccessful and no arrests had been made by late morning Tuesday.

The victim’s name and age are expected to be released at a later time.

Police are reporting that no arrests have been made and the shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650.

This is the 36th homicide of 2021 in Saint Paul. The previous record of 34 was already passed earlier this month.

In Minneapolis, homicides are nearing the record of 97 set in the mid-1990s. A man was fatally shot by a 15-year-old boy in a domestic-related shooting Monday morning on the 3700 block of Park Ave. S., marking Minneapolis’ 94th homicide of 2021.

UPDATE: The Ramsey County Medical Examiner has identified the man shot and killed as Kenneth L. Davis Jr., 44. As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650.
