Missing Kayaker Found Dead in Saint Cloud

Stearns County authorities have confirmed that the body of a kayaker missing since Wednesday afternoon has been recovered from the Mississippi River in Saint Cloud.

The body of Donald Richard Worden, 39, of Saint Cloud, was recovered around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, June 2.

The Sheriff’s Office and other agencies conducted extensive search and recovery efforts since the man was reported missing and, early Friday evening, a boater on the river near the St. Germain Street bridge reported seeing what appeared to be a body.

Saint Cloud Fire and PD responded to the recovery call, along with the Sheriff’s Office and boat crews from the SCFD and Stearns County Sheriff’s Office worked together on the recovery.

Worden was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

On Wednesday, the Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a distress call from a concerned boater at approximately 3:56 p.m., reporting an overturned kayak with no one nearby.
