Suspect in Wife's Killing is Captured After Weeks-long Manhunt in Northern Minnesota
The man authorities accused of stabbing his wife in the neck, leaving her to die in their driveway last month has been apprehended after an intense search lasting several weeks in northern Minnesota.
Eric Reinbold, 44, was seen on a law enforcement trail camera near his parents’ property in Red Lake County late Tuesday night. The camera had been set up in a wooded area off of County Road 1, in the area that had been searched by authorities in the days after his disappearance.
Reinbold was wanted after his wife Lissette’s killing July 9 in rural Oklee. She was found dead by their children in the driveway with multiple stab wounds to the neck and torso.
After he was spotted on the camera Tuesday night, deputies with the U.S. Marshals Service, the Pennington and Red Lake County sheriff’s offices and agents with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension converged on the area.
Reinbold was found hiding in the woods near an abandoned homestead and was taken into custody without incident shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Reinbold is currently in the Pennington County Jail and a bail hearing has been set for Friday. Reinbold was charged via complaint with Lissette Reinbold’s murder on July 30 and was also being sought by the U.S, Marshals Service for violating the terms of his release from federal prison for a previous conviction.
