Two people were inside the home at the time of the crash. An adult male was struck by a section of the wall pushed inward by the impact and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An adult female in the home was not hurt.
According to police, a 13-year-old boy was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Multiple witnesses pointed to the boy as the one behind the wheel, and the adult female passenger, believed to be a family member, told officers she had allowed him to drive the vehicle around the neighborhood. She said they had gone to a store and were returning home when the boy mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, causing the SUV to crash into the residence.
The crash remains under investigation.
