A Minneapolis woman is facing multiple felony charges after her two-month-old twins were hospitalized for fentanyl exposure.
Authorities responded to a 911 call on Jan. 2, 2025, regarding an infant struggling to breathe at an upper-unit residence on Broadway Street Northeast.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County, officers and emergency medical personnel were dispatched for a child not breathing. Paramedics began life-saving treatment and the infant was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where medical staff had to administer multiple doses of Narcan and intubate the child.

Due to the effectiveness of Narcan in treating the first twin, officers returned to the home to conduct a welfare check at the residence. Officers then discovered the twin sibling exhibiting similar distress. That infant was also transported to the hospital, where doctors placed the child on a Narcan drip and intubated them.
Investigators field-tested two baby bottles from which the infants had been feeding. The liquid inside both bottles tested positive for fentanyl and further examination found that a third child in the home, a two-year-old, also had fentanyl in their system, the court documents say.
The mother, identified as 25-year-old Anghel Esperanza Brown, told officers she had a history of fentanyl use but claimed she had not used the drug since the birth of her twins two months earlier.
Brown is charged with two felony counts of child endangerment resulting in substantial harm and one gross misdemeanor count of child endangerment. A warrant has been issued for Brown’s arrest and she faces up to five years in prison on the most serious charge.
Brown is not currently in custody and a booking photo was not immediately available.
