1 Killed, 1 Injured in Downtown Rochester Shooting

One man was killed and another man critically wounded in an early morning shooting in downtown Rochester near a parking ramp at 3rd St. SW & 1st Ave.

A suspect was quickly taken into custody shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday near the original incident location.

Witnesses reported seeing a male suspect fire shots near the 3rd St. Ramp, then run westbound. An officer in the area chased the suspect and observed him tossing a gun in an alley. The suspect was taken into custody at gunpoint and arrested.

One adult male victim is confirmed to have died at the scene and another man had a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Rochester police said. Around a dozen shots were reportedly fired in the incident.

Rochester police said that in addition to the suspect apprehended shortly after the shooting, another suspect was arrested in the early morning hours and authorities are not seeking any additional suspects.
