2 Hurt in Shooting at Minneapolis’ Cedar Avenue Encampment

Officers from the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Precinct responded to a shooting at a homeless encampment Friday evening.

Police say the shooting injured two people after 911 call takers first got reports of the incident at around 5:41 p.m in the Cedar Avenue area.

When they arrived, officers found a woman with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds near the 2200 block of Cedar Avenue South, believed to be the original scene of the shooting.

Shortly after, a man with potentially life-threatening injuries was found nearby on the 2200 block of Hiawatha Avenue South. Both gunshot victims were transported to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment, police say, and an update on their condition is not available as of publication.

Investigators are actively working to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the shooting and no arrests have been made.
