VIDEO: 2 Shot in Saint Paul Convenience Store Dispute
Police are investigating a double shooting that occurred just after 7 a.m. at a convenience store in Saint Paul.
Officers responding to multiple 911 calls found two adult males with gunshot wounds at separate locations.
One individual was discovered at the Arco convenience store on the 300 block of Larpenteur Avenue, while the second was located near the intersection of Mississippi Street and Wheelock Parkway. Both were transported to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Initial radio reports suggest the shooting stemmed from a dispute inside the Arco gas station involving the two gunshot victims and a store employee. According to police, the argument escalated and spilled into the parking lot, where the employee was reportedly "jumped" by the two men. The employee then pulled a handgun and opened fire, striking both.
Officers recovered spent shell casings near the store’s front door and throughout the parking lot. Police confirmed that the employee fled the scene after the shooting but has been positively identified. Saint Paul’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is leading the investigation, which remains active.
UPDATE | Tuesday, Dec. 31
Authorities have confirmed that the suspected shooter, 22-year-old Antonio Allen Ellis, of West St. Paul, turned himself in and remains in custody, now charged with two counts of second-degree assault.
