In the update Thursday, Sept. 19, Burnsville police confirmed that over 50 people have been interviewed and dozens of pieces of evidence have been processed. Despite the progress, investigators continue to gather information and urge anyone with details to come forward.

Police believe the shooting was targeted, with individuals at the basketball court the apparent intended victims. Some of those at the scene were “known associates of a gang,” police said, and multiple suspects were likely involved. While some witnesses have cooperated with the investigation, others have been hesitant to provide information. Police are encouraging anyone who was at the park or nearby at the time of the shooting, particularly those who fled the area before officers arrived, to share any information.

“Since this reckless shooting happened, our detectives and partner agencies have worked diligently to find those responsible and bring them to justice. The investigation continues to move forward and evidence continues to be gathered from a variety of sources. We know members of the public have additional information that could assist this investigation and we need them to come forward,” Burnsville Police Chief Tanya Schwartz said in a written statement.

As of publication, no arrests have been made and police have not yet disclosed other details about what may have led to the shooting. Call 952-641-1156 if you have info.
