CHARGES: Drug-Fueled Rampage Ends in Shooting, Fire at Minneapolis Home
A Minneapolis man is facing multiple felony charges following a domestic violence incident that ended in a shooting and house fire.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County, authorities responded to a house fire on the afternoon of March 22, 2025, on the 1000 block of Irving Avenue North.
Firefighters at the scene discovered an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound, prompting a response from Minneapolis police officers.
The woman told police that her husband, 31-year-old Lue Xiong, was under the influence of drugs and had shot her earlier that morning with an AK-47-style rifle during an argument. The dispute allegedly began when Xiong accused her of infidelity, threatened to kill her and then shot her in the leg. Despite her injury, Xiong refused to seek medical help for the woman, instead instructing their two eldest children to help bandage the wound. The victim also disclosed that Xiong had threatened to shoot any officers who might come to the home, adding to her decision not to call for help immediately.

The documents say that throughout the day, Xiong continued exhibiting erratic behavior, including “speaking to walls” and claiming demonic presences. At one point, he allegedly started multiple fires in the basement laundry room and other areas of the home, prompting the family to flee. All six of their children—ranging in age from 8 months to 14 years—were inside the home during the incident.
The fire investigation revealed multiple separate and simultaneous points of origin for the blaze, consistent with intentional arson. Investigators discovered a bottle containing what appeared to be gasoline, along with other items suggesting accelerants had been used.

Police took Xiong into custody at the scene and recovered firearms, ammunition and drug paraphernalia during a subsequent search. A black rifle, a possible shotgun, spent shells and multiple high-capacity magazines were found alongside a glass pipe with residue and a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
The woman later underwent surgery for a fractured leg bone caused by the gunshot. She also recounted prior incidents in which Xiong fired guns inside the home—claiming to shoot at demons—and described how he once nearly pointed a firearm at their infant child before being stopped by one of the older children.
Xiong is charged with first-degree arson, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, threats of violence and misdemeanor domestic assault. He remains in custody and is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Wednesday. Xiong faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
