CHARGES: Man Attacked Wife with Barstool, Stabbed Her in Chest
A Plymouth man has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and assault after allegedly stabbing his wife last week.
On March 10, 2025, officers responded to a distress call near Rockford Road and Zachary Lane.
A woman, later identified as the man’s wife, had suffered a deep stab wound to her chest and was found in the parking lot of the New Hope Police Department. Initially, she told authorities that she accidentally fell on the knife while cooking.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she required emergency surgery to control extensive bleeding and repair lung damage. While recovering, she remained reluctant to disclose details about the incident.
Police later conducted a welfare check at the Plymouth residence shared by the victim and her husband, Franck Melaine Miessan, 39. Officers attempted to contact him for several minutes before a young child inside the home alerted him. Miessan appeared unconcerned about his wife's condition and was reportedly irritated that police woke him up.

Authorities observed wet clothing and bloodstains on his pants. Upon entering the home, officers discovered blood in multiple areas, including the bathroom, kitchen and dining room.
Days later, the victim came forward with the full account of what transpired. She alleged that Miessan had been upset with her over a conversation she had with another man at their child's basketball game. She recounted a pattern of escalating violence that culminated in the March 10 attack. That evening, Miessan allegedly told their children, “Mom is in trouble,” before physically assaulting her. He later struck her with a barstool, punched and kicked her repeatedly and ultimately stabbed her in the chest with a kitchen knife. The victim fled the home and attempted to drive herself to the hospital before calling 911 for help.
The complaint details further intimidation and coercion in the aftermath of the attack. The night before the victim spoke to police, Miessan allegedly warned his children not to discuss the incident and later made a threatening remark while handling a knife, saying, “It’s not over yet.” The victim also disclosed a long history of abuse spanning their 15-year marriage, which family members confirmed to authorities.
Miessan has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. He is currently being held on a $750,000 bond with conditions that include no contact with the victim or witnesses and electronic monitoring.
Miessan is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Thursday afternoon.
