CHARGES: Man Killed Co-Worker with AR-15 Outside Wright County Business
Wright County prosecutors have filed murder charges against a Glencoe man accused of shooting and killing his co-worker, who he suspected was involved in a romantic relationship with his wife.
According to the criminal complaint, on March 20, 2023, just after noon, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls about a shooting that just occurred in the parking lot of a business. Officers responded to Dura Supreme, located at 300 Dura Drive in Howard Lake and found a man deceased in the driver’s seat of a truck in the parking lot. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Adrian Mantano Medina.
A witness of the shooting reported that the suspect had left the scene in a black pickup truck. A deputy in the area observed a black pickup truck bearing the matching license plate described by the witness traveling on Highway 12 in Waverly and performed a traffic stop.

The suspect, 23-year-old Kevin Uriel Zelaya Asencio, of Glencoe, was taken into custody without incident. Deputies searched the vehicle and located an AR-15 rifle in the truck.
The criminal complaint states that Asencio, his wife, and Medina all worked together at Dura Supreme, but Asencio suspected that Medina and his wife were involved in a romantic relationship together. While at work, Asencio’s wife told him that she wanted to end the relationship. Asencio then left work and went home to retrieve the rifle.
Asencio returned to work and observed his wife and Medina enter a vehicle together. At that point, Asencio took the rife and walked over to the vehicle they were in. Asencio got into the backseat of the vehicle and threatened Medina before firing three shots, striking Medina in the head and killing him.
Medina died at the scene. Police recovered three shell casings that were consistent with the ammunition found in the AR-15 that was in Asencio’s vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
Asencio was charged with 2nd degree murder, with intent but not premeditated. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
Asencio made an initial court appearance earlier this morning where bail was set at $5 million with no conditions.
