The driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox was eastbound and crossed over the median, which had no barrier at the time due to construction, and struck a 2022 Ram ProMaster cargo van that was heading westbound, according to initial information from the Minnesota State Patrol.

A MnDOT Traffic Management camera (posted above) near the crash captured the driver of the Equinox drifting across the median without any signs of correction. The camera then pans to reveal the aftermath of the high-speed collision.

The driver of the Equinox, 20-year-old Claire Elizabeth Kroska, of Foley, and the driver of the ProMaster, 39-year-old Christopher John Mclane, of Blaine, both suffered life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers were transported to Hennepin Healthcare by LifeLink helicopters. Authorities say both were wearing seat belts and airbags were deployed in both vehicles. There was no alcohol use suspected for either driver and road conditions were dry at the time. The crash remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol.
