According to the State Patrol, the school bus and a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo were both traveling eastbound on Highway 62 when the Isuzu lost control, crashed into the concrete wall and then collided with the school bus. Both vehicles came to rest in the center median.

Per dispatch audio, the driver of the passenger vehicle was trapped inside the vehicle and initially unresponsive. The driver of the car was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

EMS crews evaluated at least five juvenile occupants of the bus and the driver for minor injuries, but it’s unknown if anyone was transported to the hospital. A second school bus was requested to take the students and finish the bus route.

The State Patrol says the deceased was a 57-year-old man from Burnsville driving an Isuzu Rodeo, but his name has not been released as of Monday evening.

The driver of the school bus was not injured.
