Driver Dies at Hospital After Saint Paul Park Crash

A 68-year-old man died Saturday morning after crashing into a concrete wall at the top of a highway exit ramp in Washington County.
The single-vehicle crash happened shortly before 7:40 a.m. April 5, 2025, on the southbound ramp from Highway 61 to 70th Street in Saint Paul Park.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol: Michael Alton Huset, 68, of South Saint Paul, was driving a 2020 Honda Civic and exited the highway, continued through the intersection at the end of the ramp and collided with the barrier.

Emergency responders from Washington County, the Saint Paul Park Police Department and the Cottage Grove Fire Department arrived at the scene. Huset was then transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital in Saint Paul, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities said the roadway was dry at the time of the crash and the vehicle’s airbags deployed upon impact. No other vehicles were involved.
There was no indication of driver impairment and Huset was wearing a seat belt at the time, according to a State Patrol incident report. Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
