Farmington Man Charged After Wife Stabbed Multiple Times
A Farmington man is facing two attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing his wife multiple times inside their home Tuesday morning.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County, Mehdi Badaoui, 52, is charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder.

The charges stem from an incident that began around 8:30 a.m. on April 15, when Farmington police were called to a home on a report of a domestic assault.
A caller at the scene told officers that a woman had been stabbed and was unable to move. When officers entered the residence, a witness led them to a bedroom where they found the victim — Badaoui’s wife — lying on her side in a pool of blood. Police rendered aid and observed multiple stab wounds, including one that required a tourniquet to control the bleeding.

Officers located Badaoui in the garage of the home. He reportedly had blood on his hand and was taken into custody without further incident.
A witness in the residence told investigators that she had woken up to yelling and saw Badaoui stabbing the victim. She said she watched him drag the woman from the kitchen into the bedroom. The victim was taken to a hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Medical staff reported finding ten stab wounds.
Police later recovered a bloodied pocketknife on the kitchen counter.
Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena called the facts of the case “shocking” and credited first responders for their role in saving the victim’s life.
Badaoui made an initial court appearance Thursday, where bail was set at $750,000 with conditions, including no contact with victims, surrender his passport, no alcohol or drug use and no contact with the victim. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 1st.
