Gunman Sentenced to 76 Years for Minneapolis Murder
A Brooklyn Park man has been sentenced for a shooting in Minneapolis that killed one person and injured three others.
Kevin Jason Harris, 29, received a combined sentence of 922 months—or more than 76 years—after being convicted of second-degree murder and multiple counts of attempted murder.
The sentencing follows an investigation into the April 5, 2024, shooting near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Logan Avenue North.
That night, Harris opened fire on a Jeep carrying four people, striking and killing one of the occupants. Three others in the vehicle were wounded, but survived their injuries.

The attack appeared unprovoked, with witnesses and one co-defendant suggesting Harris fired at the vehicle solely because of its loud exhaust. Surveillance footage, forensic evidence and witness testimony placed Harris at the scene, identifying him as the gunman who used a firearm modified with an automatic conversion device.
In addition to the murder and attempted murder charges, Harris was convicted of illegal possession of a firearm due to a previous felony robbery conviction. Court records indicate he was arrested in Chicago in July 2024 and later extradited to Minnesota to face prosecution.
A judge sentenced Harris to 463 months for second-degree murder and consecutive terms of 153 months each for three counts of attempted murder. A 60-month sentence for weapons possession will run concurrently.
