Hennepin Co. Sheriff Charged With Four Misdemeanors After Rollover Crash, Suspected DUI
The Douglas County attorney has filed four misdemeanor charges against Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson after crashing his squad car near Alexandria, Minnesota early Wednesday morning.
Hutchinson is charged with one count each of fourth-degree driving while impaired, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 within two hours, and carrying a pistol under the influence of alcohol. Hutchinson was served a summons at Alomere Hospital in Alexandria this afternoon.
An analysis done by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension determined Hutchinson’s blood alcohol content to be .13. The legal limit in Minnesota is .08.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the single-vehicle rollover crash. The vehicle Hutchinson was driving at the time is owned by Hennepin County. Hutchinson suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by ambulance to Alomere Hospital.
