Kansas Man Drowns on Ruth Lake in Crow Wing County

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Kansas man has died after being pulled from the water in Emily, Minn.

On August 16 just before 3 p.m., Emily police, first responders, fire, North Memorial EMS, North Memorial Air Care and Crow Wing County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Ruth Lake Access in Emily for an unconscious 66-year-old male who was pulled from the water.

The man was swimming from a nearby pontoon when he became distressed, authorities said. Boaters attempted to get floatation devices to the man, but were unsuccessful and he became unresponsive.

Other boaters responded to calls for help and assisted in recovering the man from the water. Lifesaving measures were attempted on shore, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
