Man Killed in Early Easter Sunday Shooting

Minneapolis police say a man was shot and killed just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of Russell Ave. N.

MPD says officers located a 34-year-old adult male outside of a residence with at least one gunshot wound to the neck.

Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived and the man was transported by EMS to North Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates that a “verbal altercation” escalated to gunfire at a gathering. According to initial radio dispatches, there had been a complaint of a “loud party” around 3 a.m. that may be related.

The victim’s name will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner at a later time.

Police report that, as of midday Sunday, no arrests have been made in relation to the shooting.
