Motorcyclist Dies After Striking Pole in Anoka
Authorities have confirmed that a 52-year-old motorcyclist died of his injuries after he struck A pole in Anoka midday Sunday.
Authorities say Bradley Alan Brockel, of Ramsey, was westbound on Green Haven Parkway when he left the roadway and collided with a pole near the intersection of Thurston Avenue shortly before 12:20 p.m.
Preliminary reports indicate that Brockel was unable to regain control of the motorcycle before the impact.
A passerby, along with first responders, attempted life-saving measures, but Brockel was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials noted that the area where the crash occurred has a curve in the road, but the specific cause of the incident remains under investigation. Anoka PD, Anoka-Champlin Fire Department and Allina EMS responded.
The Anoka Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office. Investigators are working to determine if speed, mechanical issues or other factors contributed.
The crash site was secured for several hours as authorities documented the scene. Green Haven Parkway was temporarily closed to traffic in the immediate area but has since reopened.
