Motorcyclist Dies in Farmington Crash, 82-year-old Woman Airlifted
A 25-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash involving an SUV in Farmington late Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were dispatched at 4:17 p.m. to the intersection of 212th Street West and Dushane Parkway, where an eastbound Yamaha motorcycle collided with the passenger-side of a westbound Ford Freestyle SUV that was turning left onto Dushane.
The impact left the motorcyclist, now identified as Tyler Wrobel, of Farmingon, unresponsive and without a pulse at the scene.
Farmington Police say the SUV driver was attempting to turn south and crossed into the path of the motorcyclist, who was eastbound on 212th Street.
Firefighters immediately began CPR, with reports indicating efforts were still underway when a Life Link III medical helicopter arrived around 4:40 p.m. Despite the lifesaving measures, Wrobel was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The SUV was driven by 82-year-old Earl Schlotman, of Farmington, who had minor injuries. He was taken by Allina ground ambulance to Fairview Ridges Hospital. His wife, Janice Schlotman, 82, was in the front passenger seat and suffered serious injuries. She was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to HCMC by Life Link III.
The intersection was closed for an extended period of time while deputies from the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office managed traffic and investigators began reconstructing the crash.
Farmington Police say the investigation remains in its early stages, and no conclusions have been reached regarding fault or contributing factors. Deputy Police Chief Nate Siem issued a statement urging the public to avoid speculation, expressing condolences to Wrobel’s family and extending wishes for the Schlotmans’ recovery.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Farmington Fire Department, Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Allina Ambulance, Life Link III and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
