State Troopers near Owatonna spotted a freshly stolen vehicle from the Holiday gas station on I-35, just north of the city late Sunday afternoon.

Troopers initiated a pursuit and the driver fled at a high rate of speed to the north.

Troopers continued the pursuit north into the city of Bloomington, where the driver exited at 98th St. before re-entering I-35W at 98th, traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic.

The driver continued northbound in the southbound lanes as troopers paralleled the vehicle. Troopers then reported the suspect struck a pickup truck head-on near W. 82nd St. Shortly after, troopers reported the occupant of the suspect vehicle would need to be extricated and they needed all southbound lanes of I-35W shut down at I-494. Recon was started to investigate the crash.

The occupants of the truck that the suspect hit were said to be OK. The occupant of the stolen vehicle had to be extricated, and we don't yet have an update from the State Patrol on their condition or identity.
