Shootout Inside Saint Paul Bar Kills One Bystander, Injures at Least 14
A shootout between multiple people inside a popular bar in the West Seventh neighborhood of Saint Paul left a woman dead and at least 14 others injured early Sunday, Oct. 10.
Initial scanner dispatches of EMS, firefighters and police responding to the area around 12:15 a.m. described a chaotic scene just west of downtown Saint Paul. The gunfire reportedly erupted inside the Seventh Street Truck Park, an indoor food truck space and bar at 214 7th St. W.
Video shared by bystanders showed several victims on the street outside the bar being tended to by civilians and police. Officers later reported that one victim died of their injuries near 7th St. W. & Kellogg Blvd., just to the east. The other victims, numbering at least 14, were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, SPPD said.
The woman was in her 20s and died at the scene, but authorities have not yet released her identification, nor any suspect information.
“My heart breaks for the woman who was killed, her loved ones and everyone else who was in that bar this morning,” said Saint Paul Chief of Police Todd Axtell. “In an instant, they found themselves caught in a hellish situation. I want them to know that we have the best investigators in the country, and we won’t stop until we find the people responsible for this madness. We will do our part to hold them accountable.”
In initial dispatch audio reviewed by MN CRIME, a possible suspect was described as a black male wearing a white long-sleeve shirt, white pants, white shoes and medium-length corn rows. That man also was struck in the gunfire and was being taken to the hospital. Witnesses were being held at the scene or taken to police headquarters, with multiple homicide investigators responding to the shooting scene.
A second possible suspect in this shooting was described as a light-skinned black male with tattoos on his forearms, wearing a black shirt, black pants and a black baseball hat.
The third possible suspect was described as a black male wearing a jean jacket, jean shorts, purple undershirt, black shoes and with long dreadlocks, according to initial dispatches from police.
The Saint Paul Police Department on Twitter confirmed the shooting took place and gave a media conference near the scene around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. Details are expected later in the morning. SPPD was assisted by Maplewood, White Bear, RCSO and State, among other agencies, due to the number of squads needed for the shooting scene on W. 7th.
