No Charges Yet Filed in Fatal Maple Grove Shooting
A suspect who had turned himself in on charges related to the fatal shooting of a driver in Maple Grove last weekend has been released, with no formal charges filed.
Maple Grove police said that a 30-year-old man was being held on probable cause murder for the shooting, which took place Easter Sunday, April 17 shortly before 3 p.m.
The man was booked, but released without formal charges, KSTP reported.

Maple Grove police say the incident began around 40 miles northwest, as an altercation between two drivers near Saint Cloud. The two drivers had “interactions along the route” and continued along I-94 until at least one gunshot was fired by the suspect.
The shooting is believed to have taken place near Co. Rd. 30 & Garland Lane.
The suspected shooter fled the scene in his vehicle and Haire also drove away, later found by officers near I-94 & Maple Grove Pkwy. with a gunshot wound. Haire was taken to the hospital by ambulance but later died.
It’s not yet clear if police believe someone else may have pulled the trigger, or if lesser charges may eventually be brought.
Police say investigation of the shooting is continuing and that the man who turned himself in is still a suspect.
Jail records show the man was released Thursday, April 21 after being arrested the day before.
