Suspect Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting After Polk County Pursuit
A vehicle pursuit in rural northwest Minnesota ended Monday morning with an officer-involved shooting that sent the suspect to the hospital.
The incident began shortly after 10 a.m. on April 7, when law enforcement initiated a pursuit that concluded on County Road 9, west of the intersection with County Road 16 in Fischer Township.
UPDATE: BCA Identifies Man Shot by Crookston Police
Following the end of the pursuit, the suspect driver was shot by an officer on scene. Authorities confirmed that the suspect—who was the only occupant of the vehicle—sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D., for treatment.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has been called in to investigate the incident and is currently processing the scene. According to officials, there is no ongoing threat to the public.
As the investigation continues, County Road 9 between 350th Avenue Southwest and 360th Avenue Southwest was closed to all traffic, expected to remain shut down for most of the day. The public is being asked to avoid the area.
Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including the Crookston Police Department, United States Border Patrol, Minnesota State Patrol, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Crookston Area Ambulance.
