We’ve obtained traffic camera video showing the moment a high-speed police pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Mendota Heights.

The chase began in Dakota County and moved through several cities, with speeds reportedly reaching 100 miles per hour. Law enforcement ground units had discontinued the pursuit before the crash occurred, but a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter continued tracking the suspect vehicle from above.

The crash prompted a large emergency response and forced authorities to shut down the eastbound lanes of Highway 62 while crews responded and began their investigation. The original reason for the pursuit was for the suspect’s speed, according to initial radio dispatches.

As of publication, the extent of injuries to the suspect and uninvolved driver has not been released. Authorities have confirmed that the Trooper who was struck had non-life-threatening injury.
