2 Drivers Killed in Head-On Isanti County Crash

 

A two-vehicle crash near Isanti resulted in the deaths of both drivers Monday afternoon.

Emergency personnel responded to the crash around 2:06 p.m. near 269th Avenue Northeast and Tucker Trail Northeast in Athens Township.

Responders from the Isanti County Sheriff's Office found that one male driver had died at the scene. Efforts were made to save the second driver, but he also died shortly after. Authorities confirmed that both vehicles were occupied only by their respective drivers.

The Minnesota State Patrol is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. The Isanti Police Department, Isanti Fire Department and Isanti County Reserves also assisted at the scene.

The Isanti County Sheriff’s Office has identified the drivers as Calvin Jacobsen, 95, of Bradford Township, and Nicholas Murray, 29, of Isanti.
