Suspect Arrested After Shooting Homicide in Moorhead
Police say a man was shot and killed Sunday morning in Moorhead and the suspect was not immediately found.
Officers were dispatched at 9:32 a.m. to the 2700 block of 14th Street South after reports of gunfire and a possible victim.
When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Life-saving efforts were attempted, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, Moorhead PD confirms.

Police say early indications suggest the shooting was not random. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called in to assist with the investigation and to process evidence.
According to Moorhead Police, the suspected shooter fled the area in a newer model, light green Chevrolet midsize SUV. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information on the vehicle or the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701-451-7660 and ask to speak with a Moorhead Police supervisor.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Dilworth Police Department, Moorhead Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance assisted at the scene. Authorities say more information will be released as the investigation continues.

Authorities have identified the suspect as Jerome Anthony Thomas III, from the Fargo-Moorhead area. Thomas fled the scene in a newer green mid-size Chevy SUV, possibly a Trax, and is considered armed and dangerous. Investigators are seeking to formally charge Thomas with murder and attempted murder. A female accomplice is also sought, identified as 32-year-old Abby Nicole Fredrickson, of Moorhead. Nationwide arrest warrants were issued for both in relation to the homicide investigation.

The victim was identified Monday by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office as 39-year-old James Earl Hamilton. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.
On Monday around noon, Moorhead Police got info from Michigan State Police that Thomas and his accomplice were both arrested and taken into custody after a traffic stop in the Chevy Trax. They’re being held in the Marquette County Correctional Facility in Michigan, awaiting extradition. Thomas has been charged with two counts of 2nd-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. Fredrickson faces a charge of aiding an offender.
