West St. Paul Man Sentenced to Over 30 Years for Stabbing Housemate
A West St. Paul man has been sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for fatally stabbing his housemate in an adult group home.
John C. Adams II, 43, was sentenced to 367 months in prison for the February 2020 killing of 68-year-old David Eugene Rahn.
A jury found Adams guilty of intentional second-degree murder earlier this year. Judge Michael Mayer credited Adams with 1,777 days already served and ordered him to pay $2,088 in restitution.
The charges stem from an incident on Feb. 17, 2020, when staff at the group home called 911 around 4 a.m. to report a disturbance between the two men. A staff member told dispatchers that she heard Rahn scream for help from his bedroom.
When West St. Paul officers arrived, they found Rahn unresponsive on the floor of his bedroom with multiple stab wounds to his neck and back. Officers performed CPR until medics arrived, but Rahn was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide caused by multiple sharp force injuries.
