2 Found Dead in Parked Car Near Saint Paul Strip Mall

Two people were found dead inside a vehicle Sunday in a strip mall parking lot on the east side of Saint Paul.

The deaths have triggered an investigation now being led by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.

Officers were called to the Shamrock Plaza strip mall at 289 McKnight Rd. S. shortly after 5:25 p.m. on April 20, after a 911 caller reported that two people inside a parked vehicle appeared to be unresponsive.

When Saint Paul police arrived, they located an adult male and an adult female inside the vehicle. Fire medics were requested and arrived shortly after, but both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said there were no immediate signs of foul play and the area was not considered a threat to the public. At this time, police say nothing suspicious was located inside the vehicle, which was towed from the scene and will be processed by investigators in an effort to help determine what happened.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and will conduct autopsies to determine exact causes of death. Toxicology testing is also expected. The circumstances, including how long the vehicle had been parked at the location or whether the two people had any known connection to the area, have not yet been disclosed.

Saint Paul police have not released the identities of the deceased and it’s unclear when their names will be made public. No additional details have been released but officials say further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
