Crash in Plymouth Leaves 83-year-old Pedestrian Dead

An elderly pedestrian died early Monday after being struck by a driver on Highway 55 in Plymouth, authorities confirm.

According to initial info from the State Patrol, the driver of a 2005 Ford Mustang was westbound on Highway 55 near Revere Lane around 5:37 a.m. when he struck the male, who was on foot.

The driver of the Mustang, a 48-year-old man from Elk River, was wearing a seat belt and had minor injuries from the crash. Officials said he did not require transport to a hospital and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

The pedestrian, an 83-year-old man from Minatare, Neb., was pronounced deceased after being transported to the hospital. His name has not yet been released and the State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
