Crews Battle 2-Alarm Blaze at Roseville Apartment Building

A fire broke out early Thursday morning at a Roseville apartment building, leading to a second-alarm response.

Roseville firefighters were dispatched shortly after 5 a.m. to a fire alarm at an apartment complex located at 2855 Rice Street.

Upon arrival and investigation, crews discovered active flames in a second-floor unit and upgraded the incident to a working apartment fire, calling in additional resources.

The fire was initally brought under control by around 6:15 a.m., but crews soon discovered that flames had extended into the walls of the third floor and spread to the roof of the structure. A second alarm was requested to bring in further support for extinguishment, ventilation, overhaul and fire investigation efforts. Emergency crews remained on scene until about 8:15 a.m.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The Roseville Fire Department says nine fire departments in total responded to assist with extinguishing the blaze.
