Four-Alarm Fire in Minneapolis Displaces 50, Injures 3

Minneapolis firefighters responded to a massive blaze late Wednesday night that displaced over 50 residents and sent three people, including two firefighters, to the hospital.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., crews were called to reports of a garage fire on the 5600 block of Lyndale Avenue South involving multiple vehicles. Upon arrival, they discovered that the fire had already spread from the garage to a nearby apartment building and a residential motel.
The garage, containing five to seven cars, was fully engulfed, prompting the Minneapolis Fire Department to escalate the response to a four-alarm fire for additional resources.
Firefighters worked swiftly to evacuate residents from the affected buildings as the flames spread. They initiated searches of three structures and later transitioned to a defensive exterior approach when conditions worsened. During the incident, a three-story apartment building's roof collapsed, and part of the motel's roof also suffered damage, fire officials reported.
Fire Chief Bryan Tyner noted the severity of the situation but emphasized the relief that no lives were lost. "There's a lot of damage, but the important thing is that everyone made it out safely," Tyner said.
Three people were transported to the hospital due to injuries sustained in the fire. Two firefighters were injured, with one suffering a shoulder injury while another suffered a knee injury. One resident required treatment for a respiratory issue. The Red Cross and Salvation Army have stepped in to provide assistance to the displaced residents.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and the total damage remains undetermined.
