Man Dies Weeks After Saint Paul Shooting; 2 Arrested
Saint Paul Police say a man injured in an October shooting on Rice Street has died at the hospital.
Police say his death is now being investigated as a homicide and that two arrests have been made.
Oscar Lee Covington, 42, of Brooklyn Park, was shot in the abdomen on Oct. 30 in the 800 block of Rice Street. Officers responded to the scene around 5:45 p.m. and found Covington critically injured.
Covington was transported to Regions Hospital, where he remained until succumbing to his injuries on Tuesday, Nov. 26, according to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Edward G. Robinson, 43, and Erica Ruth Hampton, 42, both of Saint Paul, have been arrested and charged in connection with the case. Saint Paul Police say they are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shooting and are working with the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office on the potential for additional charges.
Covington’s death is the 30th homicide in Saint Paul this year.
