Man Fatally Shot Outside Plymouth Gas Station

Plymouth police are investigating after a 28-year-old man was found fatally shot in a vehicle outside a gas station Thursday night.

Police were called to Sami’s Stop near Hwy. 169 & 36th Ave. N. around 8:20 p.m. after gunfire was reported in the area.

Followers told us they heard around three gunshots fired in the parking lot and police later confirmed a man was found shot in a vehicle. He was transported to the hospital but later died.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner on Friday identified the man shot and killed as Marlon Lindly Pompey, 28, of Maple Grove.

Pompey was pronounced dead just before 9 p.m. at North Memorial hospital in Robbinsdale, the medical examiner’s office said.

A still image from a state traffic camera shortly after the incident occurred showed a silver vehicle at the pumps with its doors open. Officers quickly taped off the area and began processing the vehicle.

Multiple law enforcement agencies from the west metro provided assistance to Plymouth police on scene.

UPDATE: Plymouth police are seeking a suspect in relation to the fatal shooting. Daniel James Hart, 23, of Brooklyn Park, was allegedly spotted leaving the scene on the 9600 block of 36th Avenue N. and may be driving a black 2017 BMW 740 with MN license plate 5BD-597.
