Man Fatally Stabbed During Fight at Saint Paul Gas Station
Saint Paul police say a man is dead following a stabbing outside a gas station Friday.
At about 5:23 p.m. on Oct. 11, officers responded to the 200 block of East 7th Street after getting the first reports of the altercation.
When they arrived, officers found the male victim lying in the parking lot of the gas station, suffering from apparent stab wounds. Police immediately began providing first aid before Saint Paul Fire medics arrived and transported the victim to Regions Hospital, where he later died. The victim has not yet been identified.
The stabbing suspect, a 60-year-old male, remained at the scene and was taken into custody by officers without incident, SPPD said. According to police, an altercation between the victim and the suspect began inside the store, which escalated before the stabbing occurred. The suspect has not yet been identified nor formally charged.
Homicide investigators are working to determine the full circumstances of the incident, with forensic and video management teams processing the scene for evidence including surveillance footage.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy and formally identify the victim in the coming days. The stabbing marks the 20th homicide in Saint Paul so far in 2024.
