Man Sentenced for Stabbing Teen in Fleet Farm Attack

A man convicted of first-degree assault in a violent attack at a Fleet Farm store in Carver has been sentenced to seven years in prison, according to court records.

Gerald Dwayne Hudson, 31, received an 84-month sentence from a Carver County judge after pleading guilty on Feb. 4, 2025.

The sentencing follows his conviction for assaulting a 17-year-old employee at the Fleet Farm store on Nov. 24, 2024. Court documents state Hudson stabbed the victim in the back of the neck, causing a severe laceration and significant blood loss. Surveillance footage captured him fleeing the scene in an SUV before his eventual arrest in Chanhassen.

Prosecutors originally charged Hudson with both first-degree and second-degree assault, but the latter charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
