Emergency crews responded to Lake Owasso after a 911 caller reported seeing a person standing in the water near the shoreline.

Despite extensive search efforts Wednesday night, authorities say they found no sign of a missing individual.

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Water Patrol Unit and additional responders from Roseville, New Brighton, and Lake Johanna Fire Departments were dispatched around 7 p.m. Oct. 30, 2024, to the Lake Owasso County Park boat launch on the 300 block of North Owasso Boulevard.

According to officials, a witness briefly observed someone in the water but then lost sight of them when looking away. Concerned for the person’s welfare, the witness alerted authorities.

Crews including multiple boats equipped with sonar, a State Patrol helicopter and a drone, searched the area for about two hours. Divers were on standby, but by 9:20 p.m., the search was called off with no person located.

Authorities indicated that based on initial information and evidence at the scene, they believe someone was indeed standing in the water at one point, but do not believe anyone went underwater at this time.
