15-year-old Boy on Dirt Bike Killed in Blaine Crash
A teenage boy on a dirt bike was killed in a crash with a pickup early Sunday evening in Blaine, authorities confirm.
Blaine police and emergency crews responded at about 6:05 p.m. on Jan. 12 to the crash near 103rd Lane NE and Sunset Avenue NE.
According to preliminary information, the 15-year-old was traveling southbound on Sunset Avenue NE on a motorized dirt bike when he collided with a pickup truck that was turning westbound onto 103rd Lane NE from the northbound lane.
Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, the boy was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released and authorities have not provided further details about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The adult male driver of the pickup truck and his juvenile female passenger were not injured, according to the sheriff’s office.
The crash remains under investigation by Blaine police, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Blaine Police Department at 763-785-6168.

The teenager has been identified as Artem Sandulyak, 15, of Blaine. The driver of the pickup has been identified as Dennis Malmstedt, 50, of Circle Pines. The crash remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
