VIDEO: MPD Chief Chases Down Carjacking Suspects

New bodycam video released to MN CRIME shows newly appointed Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara chasing down carjacking suspects last Monday afternoon in south Minneapolis.

Four juveniles in a stolen red Kia allegedly fired around a dozen gunshots on the north side before leading officers on a pursuit that ended near 28th St. E. & Portland Ave. S.

Three of the four suspects were eventually apprehended and two guns were found inside the stolen Kia.

“These juveniles are a danger to themselves and to anyone who happens to be around them. For the past year, they have been allowed to continue to wreak havoc in our neighborhoods with no recourse and no consequences. We cannot continue to tolerate this behavior,” O’Hara said in a written statement after the incident Monday, May 15.
