1 Dead, 1 Injured After Crash, Vehicle Fire in Brooklyn Park

One man is dead and another injured after a single-vehicle crash and subsequent fire Saturday morning in Brooklyn Park.
Emergency crews were called around 7:21 a.m. on April 12 to the intersection of Highway 252 and 80th Avenue North for a report of a crash with injuries.
When emergency crews arrived, they found a 2017 Chevy Impala that had gone off the roadway and caught fire. Other passing drivers stopped to help and were able to pull both occupants from the burning vehicle.

Two adult men had been inside the vehicle and one was pronounced dead at the scene, Brooklyn Park PD has confirmed. The second man was taken to the hospital by ambulance for further care and his current condition has not been released.
The Minnesota State Patrol is leading the investigation and hasn’t yet provided additional details about what might have caused the crash. Authorities closed a portion of southbound Highway 252 between 85th Avenue and Brookdale Drive to conduct a full crash investigation. The roadway has since been reopened to traffic.
UPDATE | Sunday, April 13
The State Patrol has identified the deceased man as Carlos Chavez Holliday, 36, of Minneapolis. He was a passenger in the vehicle and was wearing a seat belt. The driver, Johnny Lee Houston, 33, of Minneapolis, was taken to North Memorial hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries. It’s currently unknown if alcohol or impairment was involved.
